How to Earn Gift Cards for Your Health Care Services

Making healthy choices on a consistent basis is rewarding enough. But when you’re getting paid to make those choices? That’s the definition of a win-win. Many Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) members who have Blue Cross Rewards as part of their health plan through their employer can earn big with gift cards in exchange for certain health care service appointments that may be on the horizon anyway. Just sign up, attend the appointments at cost-effective provider locations and watch the rewards roll in.
How can I take advantage of Blue Cross Rewards?
The first step is to find out if your health plan through your employer includes this program by logging in to your Blue Cross member account or by registering for an account. After logging in, look for Blue Cross Rewards and the green trophy icon on your homepage. If you see this, then you’re eligible for the program. Select “Get rewards,” then “Manage your rewards.” Then, scroll and open the drop-down tab next to the Blue Cross Rewards section and select “view rewardable services.” Now is the time to find and select the service that applies to you, so you can sign up for it. There are more than 120 rewardable services. Here are some examples:
- Chest X-rays
- Colonoscopy screenings
- Knee repairs
- Shoulder repairs
- Mammograms
- Most CT scans
- Most MRIs
- Ultrasounds
When you are ready, click “sign up” and view the provider locations closest to you listed with a green trophy icon, which indicates cost-effective providers in your network. To be rewarded, you must select the “sign up” button and have your service at one of the provider locations with a green trophy. Once you set an appointment and your claim is processed, you’ll get an email with a link to redeem your gift card reward. The gift cards vary in amount, between $25 and $75, depending on the service.
