Last year ushered in a new era of the Detroit Grand Prix, which returned to the Downtown Detroit streets for the first time in more than 30 years. This year, the new tradition carries on for three full days of racing excitement, activities, and entertainment across the hottest spots in the city.
The 2024 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear runs from Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2. Before you head to the track, take a lap around this comprehensive "Prix-view."
Race information
There’s lots to do on Grand Prix weekend, but the focal point of it all happens on the track. The weekend lineup features the open-wheel stars of the NTT INDYCAR series, recognizable sports cars from worldwide manufacturers in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and the up-and-coming open-wheel racers of INDY NXT by Firestone.
Practice and qualifying races fill up the Friday slate between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Saturday features INDY NXT, NTT INDYCAR series and IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship races, respectively, between 10:35 a.m. and 5:50 p.m.
Then on Sunday, after the 45-lap INDY NXT by Firestone Race at 10:30 a.m., it’s grand finale time. The always-exciting 100-lap Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix take place between 12:30 and 3 p.m. Competitors will jockey for position on a 10-turn, temporary street circuit along Jefferson Avenue, Bates Street, Atwater Street, St. Antoine, Franklin Street and Rivard Street. The race length is 170 miles. For those watching at home, the Grand Prix will be broadcasted live on the USA Network and Peacock streaming service.
Tickets and how to watch live
There are seven viewing platforms along East Jefferson Avenue that are open to the public free of charge and available on a first-come basis. An additional viewing platform is located south of the GM Renaissance Center and accessible via the Riverwalk. A dedicated ADA only viewing platform is located between Grandstands 3D & 4. All viewing platforms are ADA accessible.
General admission: Single day rooftop admission is $30 on Friday, $75 on Saturday, and $85 on Sunday. Multi-day rooftop admission pricing costs $140 for two days and $165 for three days. Three rooftop viewing locations are included in this admission ticket option. Each rooftop viewing area will offer unique views of the Detroit skyline along with the on-track action below, as well as a fun atmosphere all weekend long at the Grand Prix.
Grandstand reserved seating: Single-day reserved seating ranges from $45 to $140, depending on the day. Two-day reserved seating ticket prices range from $90-$260 and three-day tix range from $210-$300. Click here to buy tickets.
Comerica Bank Free Prix Day: Grandstands 1 & 9 will be open to the public free of charge on May 31. Seating in these two grandstands will be general admission and available on a first-come basis.

What's new in 2024?
Event attendees will have access to the popular Riverwalk while interactive display games, food, music and more will be featured in Hart Plaza, along Jefferson Avenue and down Woodward Avenue to Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square.
Franklin Garage tailgating: Tailgating inside the Franklin Garage will be offered as a welcome new addition to the 2024 Grand Prix! Each tailgating package includes a vehicle parking spot assigned upon arrival on levels 2-6 of the Franklin Garage along with four General Admission tailgating tickets, providing access to view the on-track action below and on Pit Lane from the Franklin Street side of the parking structure.
General admission rooftop viewing: The 2024 Grand Prix will now offer three rooftop viewing locations and a tailgating option. Each rooftop viewing area will offer unique views of the Detroit skyline along with the on-track action below, as well as a fun atmosphere all weekend long at the Grand Prix. Restricted access to parking garages: For the safety of our guests, and to reduce pedestrian traffic within garages inside the circuit, an admission ticket is now required to enter parking structures. Free public viewing is not permitted from floors within the parking garages.

Parking
The only parking structure within the venue that is available for public parking is the Franklin Garage, located between Franklin Street and Woodbridge. Parking spaces are limited and sold in advance only. Cost is $100 per day. A venue admission ticket must be purchased to purchase a parking ticket, which you can do by visiting this link.
Many surface lots and alternate parking structures located within the downtown Detroit area are available for event parking. Be sure to keep these additional resources in mind:

What to bring to the Grand Prix: Insider Tips
Much like the race on the track, the Grand Prix can be a marathon to get through if you’re not prepared and comfortable. Here are some items to pack:
- A comfy seat cushion (if you’re sitting in the grandstand)
- A portable cell phone charger
- A sunhat and sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher is recommended)
- Your most comfortable walking/athletic shoes
Cell service may be spotty at times, so keep this track map handy and plan to meet friends and family at a certain location in case you get split up.
