Blue Cross Earns Top Diversity Honors

The latest recognition comes from DiversityMBAmagazine, which named Blue Cross to its list of 50 out-front companies for women and diverse managers; and Disability Equality, which ranked the company a top-performer for its diversity and inclusion policies. “The Blue Cross leadership team works very hard to promote and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we celebrate these achievements with our employees, whose support is so important for success,” said Bridget Hurd, senior director, Diversity and Inclusion. “It’s great to be recognized for our efforts by national organizations because it’s evidence that we are on the right track.” DiversityMBA BCBSM ranks 15th among the magazine’s 50 Out-Front Companies for Diversity Leadership: Best Places for Women and Diverse Managers to Work. The award recognizes BCBSM’s longstanding commitment to inclusive diversity as a corporate leader providing a great work culture with opportunities for leadership development for all leaders with an emphasis on women and people of color. Blue Cross also was recognized in the Top 10 Best in Class Category for Representation and Accountability. The category takes into account both the representation of women and people of color in leadership roles and their advancement into senior leadership roles. Other companies in the Representation and Inclusion category include Bank of America, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and Xerox. Disability Equality Index Blue Cross scored 90 out of a possible 100 points on the U.S. Business Leadership Network Disability Equality Index. The DEI® is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities and the U.S. Business Leadership Network. A national benchmarking tool, it scores businesses on a scale of zero to 100 on their disability inclusion policies and practices.
