DETROIT, Dec. 2, 2019 — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit Pistons have teamed up to offer 50 kids a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. The Pistons Kids Day sweepstakes, running through 4:30 p.m. EST Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, will give children ages eight and up a chance to go to work and do the jobs that support the Pistons operations on gameday. The sweepstakes aims to highlight the value of team sports and gives kids a chance to experience working with a professional basketball team. To enter, visit www.pistons.com/kidsday. “Our children’s health efforts at Blue Cross are designed to teach healthy habits in a fun, engaging way,” said Andrew Hetzel, vice president of Corporate Communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “Experiencing gameday alongside the Detroit Pistons will have a positive, inspiring impact on the kids participating.” Fifty winners will be randomly selected on Monday, Dec. 30 to participate in Pistons Kids Day presented by Blue Cross on Jan. 11. As part of their prize package, each child will be given four tickets to watch the Pistons take on the Chicago Bulls Jan. 11 and will have the opportunity to shadow a member of the Detroit Pistons staff. Participating winners will be able to rotate through a variety of jobs during the game, including: game ball delivery, PA announcing, on-air broadcasts, dance team and VIP warmups and box office duties, among many others. “We are once again excited to team with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan on programming that impacts youth and promotes an active lifestyle,” said Kevin Grigg, Vice President of Public Relations for the Detroit Pistons. “Kids Day is a great opportunity to engage young people and we look forward to providing the 50 lucky winners with a hands-on experience of gameday operations at Little Caesars Arena and a glimpse at opportunities available throughout the sports industry.” Pistons Kids Day presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan supports Blue Cross’s ongoing commitment to children’s health through its #MIKidsCan campaign – initiatives focused on encouraging kids to adopt healthy habits and get active for at least 60 minutes every day. Over the last 14 years, Blue Cross has given more than $6.5 million in support of kids’ health and wellness initiatives across the state, reaching almost 340,000 children in more than 750 schools.
