Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is partnering with the Detroit Lions to encourage Michigan kids between the ages of six and 12 to adopt a healthy lifestyle and win a chance to participate in the #MIKidsCan Play Like a Lion Experience at Ford Field on Aug. 18, 2016. “Childhood obesity and other chronic health conditions are too common among Michigan’s kids,” said Andy Hetzel, vice president of Corporate Communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “Fun opportunities like the #MIKidsCan Play Like a Lion Experience help us get kids excited about being active. We’re fortunate to have partners like the Detroit Lions who share our goal of creating a healthier generation.” In order to be eligible to win, children must be nominated for the #MIKidsCan Champion of the Month during the entry period of July 12 to July 30. Nominations are based on those who feel their children demonstrate a commitment to staying active and living a healthy lifestyle and can be completed at ahealthiermichigan.org/mikidscan. Twenty winners will be announced on Aug. 4 and receive a contest prize package which includes:
- Four game tickets to the Detroit Lions pre-season game on Aug. 18, 2016
- Participation in a 60-minute on-field workout with Lions trainers and a spot in the fan tunnel, where Lions players rush onto the field prior to the game
- A healthy dinner and goody bag
- Special player appearances
Five winners from the 2015 #MIKidsCan Play Like a Lion Challenge have been invited back to this years’ experience in recognition of carrying on the healthy habits they learned last summer. The champions, listed below, have also been recognized as the July #MIKidsCan Champions of the Month:
- Brendon Burkett, 8, Canton
- Amanda Francis, 11, Grand Rapids
- Dalton Frank, 13, East Lansing
- Madison Knuttila, 8, Munising
- Alona Leoine, 10, Detroit
