Third-annual #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP will ride float down Woodward Ave. and present game ball
10-year-old Hailey Reighard of Lake Orion will spend Thanksgiving Day riding on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan float in America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van, delivering the game ball to Ford Field prior to the Detroit Lions game and enjoying a catered, Thanksgiving dinner while watching the game with nine guests, courtesy of Blue Cross and the Detroit Lions. For the third year in a row, families were invited to enter the #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes from Oct. 23 through Nov. 12. Hailey was chosen randomly from more than 1,200 entries.
“The #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes allows us to present one Michigan kid with a once-in-a-lifetime experience, in recognition of maintaining healthy habits during the holiday season” said Andrew Hetzel, vice president of Corporate Communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “We’re looking forward to sharing Thanksgiving Day with our lucky contest winner, her family and the Detroit Lions.” As part of her VIP experience, Hailey will enjoy:
- A ride on Blue Cross’ new parade float, “A Confident Life,” which demonstrates its commitment to a healthier Michigan, in America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van down Woodward Avenue
- Special seating for eight along the parade route
- A custom Detroit Lions jersey
- Delivering the commemorative game ball to Ford Field before the Lions take on the Minnesota Vikings
- On-field participation in the national anthem and fan tunnel experience before the Lions’ game against Minnesota
- A catered, Thanksgiving dinner for 10 while watching the game from club-level seats
The sweepstakes aims to highlight the importance of children’s health and asks families to share how they get active for 60 minutes on Thanksgiving Day. “We couldn’t be happier to host Hailey as part of our Detroit Lions Thanksgiving tradition and in such an unforgettable way,” said Detroit Lions Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Bill Hawker. “Her commitment to healthy habits makes her a role model to her peers and beyond. Providing this experience in conjunction with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is an apt reward that should encourage others to also be mindful of healthy habits throughout the holiday season.” The #MIKidsCan Turkey Day VIP Sweepstakes supports Blue Cross’ ongoing commitment to children’s health through its #MIKidsCan campaign and BCBSM’s partnership with the Detroit Lions’ Play 60 program – initiatives focused on encouraging kids to adopt healthy habits and get active for at least 60 minutes every day. Over the last 12 years, Blue Cross has given more than $6.5 million in support of kids’ health and wellness initiatives across the state, reaching almost 230,000 children in nearly 500 schools.
