Did you know we have a Facebook page?
We have three, actually. We also have three Twitter accounts, two YouTube channels, and a partridge in a pear tree. All kidding aside, BCBSM is active on 18 social channels. However, having all of these accounts doesn't make us social. For us, being social means being able to communicate with our members and not just to our members. As cheesy as it sounds, social media provides us the opportunity to connect with people on their level. We see this as a privilege, not a right, and it is in our best interest to not interrupt your Internet browsing with a lot of noise.
Helping is the secret formula of social media success
People remember those who help them, and this is our aim with every piece of content we create — regardless of the channel it lives on. We don't have a Facebook strategy, we have a communication strategy. Our goal is to help people with their questions about health and wellness, health care reform, and the many topics that our industry encompasses. It is our belief that if we leverage the social web to help you — and not just market to you — we will earn your trust and be successful in this space.
Today is Social Media Day
And while it is a bit strange celebrating something we have been doing since the dawn of time (communication), brands like ours should be grateful for the opportunities the social web offers. For us Social Media Day represents our commitment to you. Anyone can set up a Twitter account. Few know how to use it for the benefit of their customers. Our promise is to identify and create unique value for any of our social channels you may interact with. Today we are reminded that without you, we wouldn't have a growing community of passionate members. On behalf of the social media team, I thank you for being a part of our online communities. Below is a list of all our 18 social networks. We invite you to join us anywhere that you spend time.
