Tricia Keith and Elizabeth Haar recognized in Crain’s Detroit 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan

Tricia Keith, executive vice president, chief of staff and corporate secretary at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Elizabeth Haar, executive vice president and president of emerging markets at Blue Cross, have been selected as two of Crain's Detroit Business' 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan for 2016. A graduate of Central Michigan University and Michigan State University, Keith supports CEO Dan Loepp and all of Blue Cross' business initiatives, in addition to sitting on the board of executives, managing a $110 million budget for corporate services and overseeing more than 300 employees. Some of her most influential projects include leading the BLUnite consolidation of 7,000 employees in Detroit and coordinating the transition of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to a non-profit mutual company. Outside of work, Keith serves as chairman of the Detroit Business Improvement Zone, vice chairman of the Central Michigan University Board of Trustees and a board member of the Parade Company, MEDC Foundation and New Detroit. Her past experience as co-chairman of the Michigan Women’s Foundation's annual dinners helped the organization raise more than $1.2 million from 2015 to 2016. Keith is truly a woman of many talents. She credits Loepp for contributing to the success of strong women in leadership positions at Blue Cross. Haar earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan. As the former president and CEO of Accident Fund Insurance Company, she helped launch AF Group in 2005, in addition to working for Blue Cross. AF Group covers 2.1 million employees and more than 2,000 companies. Haar says she stumbled upon the insurance field by accident, but has since grown an appreciation for it. She says that the key to success is to get involved and seek out industries where value can be added. Nominations for the list were sent in by readers, reporters and editors, past honorees and key partners of Crain’s Detroit. Nominees were evaluated based on leadership, diversity and impact. While Crain’s has been honoring powerful women in leadership since 1997, the nominations were taken statewide this year for the first time.
