For Amanda Lesko of Wyandotte, receiving her COVID-19 vaccination meant more than simply getting back-to-normal. It meant she could return to her second-grade classroom after a “crazy” year of virtual teaching. It also meant being able to see and hug her family again. But, perhaps most importantly, it meant that her elderly mother could leave the house for more than a car ride to Meijer after nearly a year.
Lesko and her mother, who live in the same household, were fortunate to schedule and receive their vaccinations at the same time. Other than some slight soreness in her shoulder, Amanda and her mother had no side effects. Lesko is looking forward to Tiger’s games at Comerica Park this summer and getting back in the classroom. “There are so many things we’re missing because of... the pandemic, she said. Get your vaccine so we can get down to business.”
