Monday marks day 3 of open enrollment on the Michigan Health Insurance Marketplace, and the recent midterm elections have once again pushed the Affordable Care Act to center stage. Dan Loepp, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s president and chief executive officer, will present his clear-eyed perspective on the health care reform law as the keynote speaker at today’s meeting of the Detroit Economic Club. In formal remarks and during a sit-down Q&A session with WJR-AM host Paul W. Smith, Loepp will cut through the rhetoric clouding the law to deliver his candid assessment of Obamacare as “a dramatic change in how health care is sold, purchased, delivered and paid for.” He’ll discuss the law’s role in the issues of cost and quality, highlight its effect on private businesses and give his assessment of what the changed political landscape in Washington D.C. means for the future of the ACA. The event, which takes place at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit, is sold out. But you can watch a livestream of the event starting at 12:30 p.m. You can also find answers to your questions about the Marketplace open enrollment period and other health reform issues here on MI Blues Perspectives.
