At Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, we believe that creating opportunities throughout the community is essential to our success. Our Supplier Diversity Program is one program which works to maximize the inclusion of diverse groups in the procurement of goods and services at Blue Cross. These efforts are recognized every year through our Supplier Diversity Achievement Awards. “Having strong supplier relationships has been critical to our company’s operations and ability to support the health care ecosystem,” President and CEO Daniel J. Loepp said at the virtual awards ceremony. “Blue Cross employees are passionate about being leaders in inclusion and diversity, and we continue to expand our programs and practices to ensure we are making a difference internally and externally. We are grateful for your continued partnership, and we look forward to building on our foundation together.” Thirty years ago, BCBSM reinforced its commitment to supplier diversity with a Board of Directors resolution to encourage minority businesses. Companies can be certified as diverse suppliers if they are at least 51% owned and operated by a minority, woman, veteran, LGBTQ community member or person with disabilities.
